A little about me:

After receiving a Bachelor's in English, I submersed myself into the world of editing. While working on my Master's degree, I found my calling in freelance editing, bringing me to where I am today. I have a passion for reading. It makes me whole. Studying literature was an art form to me and I never tired of flipping through pages. I have always had a keen eye when it comes to grammar, punctuation, spelling, flow, and content, so why not travel down this road? Books are my passion and editing is my strength. With a Master's degree under my belt, I turned my love of freelance editing and self-published authors into a business. To say I'm passionate would be an understatement. I absolutely love what I do and put my everything into it. In the past two and a half years I have had the privilege to work with many aspiring authors as well as those already in the business.

I offer three separate levels of editing; developmental, copy-editing, and proofreading. I have also had the privilege to work with authors aspiring to become published through traditional publishing houses, submitting their manuscript into contests and publishing house editors. I can proudly say that I have earned a ten out of ten in editing on every score sheet. An author I work with won a contest and the ability to pitch her story to the Editor in Chief at Avon. Check me out! I look forward to working with you!

A little about me:

Jake Bonsignore grew up in Staten Island, NY and currently resides in Central Florida. He’s been writing ever since he was in kindergarten and completed his first full novel when he was sixteen-years-old. It is titled Descendant of Strife (adult fantasy).

He graduated high school with honors at the age of sixteen, as well, and attended St. John’s University prior to relocating to Florida. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 2010 with magna cum laude honors. During that time frame he also wrote his next two novels, Empyreal Illusions and Awakening the Fire: The Inferno Unleashed series. Both are YA fantasy / thrillers. He is very active on social media and has recently completed The Lioness: A True Love Tale, which is set for release in 2014. A sequel is in the works.

Jake has been editing (freelance) for as long as he has been writing. He also dabbles in photography on the side. He is a member of the Florida Writers Association, has made presentation at local schools, and has attended a few conferences to date, including Indie BookFest 2013. In 2014, he is set to attend Quirky Book Expo, Indie BookFest, and World Fantasy Convention.

Name: Stephen T. DeMarino

Business name: Editor Stephen T. DeMarino
Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/kakavian
Email: S_demarino@hotmail.com

Preferred format: for manuscripts I prefer Word, but I can work with other programs as needed.

Genres accepted: Science fiction, Fantasy, Historical/Western, Paranormal, and pretty much anything in between. I do not edit Erotic, Romance or Children’s literature.

A little about me:

My name is Stephen T. DeMarino and I am a father of two, supervisor at a local hardware store, and editor, as well as an author in my own right. I have a lot of informal history with editing (It is how I paid my way through college.) and have recently stepped into the realm of doing it professionally.

I work part time as an editor, I do my very best to keep your “voice” in your work as we go through the editing process. I do have a full time job, and I prefer to take my time and edit thoroughly, therefore I am not a fast editor. I will take a pass to proof-read and then go over again and do my editing and corrections. I really like to dig into a story, and do my very best to help you make it more readable, and in the end, hopefully more sell-able. I can do short stories on a deadline, but Novels can take a month or more with my time and process. I take your work very seriously, it is YOUR creative vision that you are entrusting to me; I do not ‘Shark’ your work, though I can be blunt. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

A little about me:

I have been a professional editor for over 12 years, and for the past three years I have been a full-time freelance writer/editor . My college major was psychology (and I went on to get a master’s degree in that field), but one of my college minors was English, and the researching, writing, and editing of my psychology papers were always the things I enjoyed most about my psychology studies. That’s why I decided to become an editor.

I have edited a number of documents and manuscripts in a variety of genres, everything from academic dissertations to full-length novels, from Christian fiction to LGBT romance. I have worked with both native English speakers and people for whom English is a second language.

Cost for short projects (under 25,000 words) is a penny per word.

25,001-50,000 = $250

50,001-75,000 = $350

75,001-100,000 = $500

20% discounts for first-time customers.

A little about me:
I am a single mom with dreams of being a recognized author. I have had a love of books for many years. I remember my mom yelling at me when I was younger to turn my flashlight off and go to bed. I have a gorgeous 4 year old little girl who I hope to pass on my love of reading to. If you can't find me at home in front of a computer talking to my wonderful author friends or buying books then you can usually find me in a store reading books or buying books. My ambitions are to be as popular as Karina Halle (one of my all time favorite authors), Kristin Secorsky, or C.M. Wright.

Genres accepted: Any and all genres

A little about me:

I started reading on my own at three-years-old because one, I didn't like to be read to and two, I LOVE the written word and wanted to read them myself. I was an English Major in college and started editing for a friend of mine from 2002-2008. I edited for others off-and-on from 2008-2013, when I had a friend contact me and ask me if I was still editing. I edited for a friend of his, then became the editor for his publishing company, Spookshow Publishing. In June of 2013, I became a full-time editor. As of the writing of this, I have 25 edited works in print with a bunch more in the works. If you look at my facebook page, you can see pictures of all my edited works, my client list, and references from past and current clients.

A little about me:

I worked in the printing and publishing industry for 25 years.

Although I did some writing and production, my primary job was to make sure someone else's words were properly written, edited, proofread, and formatted, before going to press.

My method includes: free sample edits, copy editing and proofreading. When you've made your first-draft changes, I check the manuscript once more. My working knowledge of the English language and proper grammar are equal to most traditional in-house publishing editors, although in-house uses several editors with more passes through the copy. That’s also available upon request since I work with other freelancers online.

In today's society, there's a vast array of editing choices for writers. It can be a daunting task to find the right one for your particular project. When editing, I utilize my education, knowledge, and background, and other tools available in today's world. Although my formal training was based in newspaper and magazine publications, and I'm familiar with those styles, I use Chicago Manual of Style's 15th and 16th editions as guidelines for book editing.

A little about me:

I’m a professional editor with nearly 60 books edited and in print. I come with impeccable references from numerous authors, including Anne Rice (of Interview with the Vampire fame). While I’ve never edited for Anne, I do edit for her assistant, Becket, in his self publication endeavors. I’m also currently the Senior Editor at Imajin Books, a small Canadian publishing house.

I can say all of the things that you as an author want to hear to convince you to work with me, but I’d rather encourage you to speak to the other authors that I’ve worked with and hear directly from them what it was like to work with me. Every author that I’ve worked with would be more than happy to take the time to tell you what it was like to work with me. You can find some of the things that they’ve publicly said about me on my professional Facebook page listed above.

Here are links to a few interviews that I’ve done that give a fairly representative insight into who I am and how I work.

Preferred format: mobi/Kindle

Genres accepted: Any genre. Nothing is too shocking, too boring, too long, too short, or too strange.

A little about me:

I am a 53 year old woman, back in college and pursuing two degrees; one as a Paralegal to pay the bills, and a Journalism major to pay my heart and soul. I have two grown children, both married, and a grandson. I have lived in Southern California with my boyfriend for over eleven years after moving here from the Chicago area. I have been a passionate reader since before I was in Kindergarten, and I always managed to find the mistakes and discrepancies in books. When a friend was publishing her first book a bit over a year ago, I offered to “fix” it for her after buying it to read myself, and that one act has started my new career in editing. I have three authors that send me all their books, and a few that work when time permits and send something here and there. I am always happy to take a look at new authors and help however I can!

A little about me:

Hi I’m Mel aka Melina Turner and live in Australia in a little town called Gympie. I began my writing at an extremely young age starting in primary school in year 3 when I heard about Write4Fun, a school international writing competition. My first piece was called “Wild Brumbies” published in 2003 when I was in year 3. I soon after moved from Nambour to Gympie an hour away, where I was influenced by an amazing English teacher to continue writing. In 2005 when I was in year 5 I was awarded “honored writer” for my poetry in which I continued and still do. In 2013 I was awarded, “Best Poet of 2012” and put into a poetry book that is now in the library of Congress. After I began poetry I soon wanted to branch out thus starting “The Deathly-Roses Volume 1” a flash fiction narrative-prose piece, original and first of its kind, to be published 2013. I then gapped it out and wrote Volume 2 in 2007 to be published at the end of 2013; the third to be written in 2013 and publish 2014. My goal with these books (TDR Volumes) was to make it short and poetic-like to gain non-readers interest and I believe I have done that. As of 2012, I slowly branched out and started helping co-author for Timothy Mitchell Films, helping with scripts for movies. As of now I am beginning to write my first finished novel ever and working at my business as an editor and promoter for independent authors.

Name: Janet Durbin

Preferred format: .doc/.docx

Genres accepted: All

A little about me:

Whether you are looking to publish your work on your own, attract an agent, or simply want to improve your manuscript for presentation, Yellow Marker Publishing Services is here to assist you with the process.

One of the biggest mistakes an author makes is editing his or her own work, or having a family member or friend who has no editing experience do it. It's your baby, your pride and joy. Allowing a stranger to edit it could alter it forever, could make it less than perfect. Unfortunately, after a couple of passes, the words start to blend and the errors are often overlooked. By having a fresh pair of eyes review the material, it allows a different perspective, which can help in locating any problem areas.

Because of the length of time involved in taking a manuscript from a rough draft to a finish product, publishers look for a story that is well written, with little need for editing. A story chock full of errors will more than likely be rejected or wind up on the "slush" pile, without any chance of being published. Due to the many factors involved in the acceptance process, Yellow Marker cannot guarantee your manuscript will be accepted by a publisher, but we can help it stand out above the competition.

Whether you need proofreading, copy/line editing, a cover design or a published product, check out our website to see what is included with each of our services or package deals. Let's work together to make your dream of becoming a published author that much closer to becoming a reality, and your paper something your boss or instructor will approve.

Requirements for use of our services:

Completed works only, please. It is easier for us to guide you through the editing process with a completed project.

All edits are accomplished using MS Word, with track change capabilities, and are performed electronically. Please ensure you have a system/program that is comparable with this process. We do not work on printed manuscripts, nor will we print and mail an edited manuscript.

A sample of our editing can be provided free of charge. Contact us through the website or at services@yellowmarkerpublishingservices.com to submit your request for a five page review.

A little about me:
I have been reading since I was little and found I loved those worlds more than the real one! I was off of work for an injury for several months and had the opportunity to start an editing business to try and bring some income in. I keep my rates down to help Indie authors the best I can so they can focus more money on their promotion materials or cover designs, etc. Also, I charge per page, not per word. I do hold down a full time job and also go to school for Business Administration. Please look at my website for books/authors that I have done editing jobs for. Any questions shoot me a message.

A little about me:
I have always been passionate about reading. Reading a good book should be similar to driving a luxurious automobile. The ride should be smooth, exhilarating, and the driver should never want the ride to end. However, if the road is filled with potholes and debris, the ride is simply not enjoyable.

A well edited book can help the reader become so ensconced in a book that they won't be able to put it down. They should get completely caught up in the natural flow of the plot, feeling each unforeseen twist and turn, without having to slow down for a grammar or wording pothole.

I realize that writers' books are the sum of all of their energy, time, and heart. So, my wish, as an editor, is to assist them provide well-polished stories for their readers to enjoy.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in English Literature with fifteen years of professional editing, proofreading, and writing experience.

Services include content editing, copy editing, and proofreading, as well as manuscript formatting. I offer a free edit of the first chapter or 5,000 words at no charge for new clients.

A little about me:

I have been reading avidly since my fifth grade teacher handed me the first Harry Potter book. Since then, it has grown into something I love very much. Over the years that love of reading grew into longing to help authors on their journey toward publishing. That drive pushed me through high school and college. While I was still schooling, I proofread and lightly edited for one or two authors, but am now ready to open my doors (so to speak) for business. Samples of my work may be requested at any time.

I offer editing and formatting services, and will work with an author to achieve their vision for their novel or novella.

A little about me:
My name is Nikki and I've been writing and editing for over ten years. I have a Bachelor's in Literature and Creative Writing and I have experience in work-shopping and revising all sorts of writing—from poems and essays to full-length novels.
I am also an independent author. My first book, Sunshine has been featured on Amazon Bestseller lists since it was released on January 28, 2013. I learned a lot through publishing independently, one of them being that you need a good editor and a good editor that you trust with your work. I know how daunting the task of finding an editor is for even the most experienced of us, and I decided a while ago that I wanted to make the process easier for fellow writers.
Although I love writing more than anything, many people are shocked to discover that revision is my favorite part of the process. I love being the first to read something new, give my input, and try to make it even better than it already is.

Beta Reading: $.0015 Per Word:
This is one of the first stages of revision. If you aren't ready to have your piece completely re-worked and just want a second opinion on the plot, characters, and general suggestions, this is the package for you. We will read your manuscript and then send you extensive notes on how you can make your writing stronger.

Detailed Copy Editing: $.0025 Per Word:
Do you think your manuscript is fine as far as plot and characterization goes, but aren't sure about the grammar, punctuation, spelling, word choice, transitions, or sentence structure? With this package, we cover all of those things!

Proof Reading: $.0035 Per Word:
(For more than one read through, add $50)
Proof Reading is a combination of beta reading and copy editing. We will check over plot and characterization as well fix grammar, punctuation, word choice, and make line edits (sentence structure) suggestions. We will provide comments in the margin of the manuscript for specific suggestions as well as at the end of the piece for general suggestions.

Synopsis Editing: $35 Flat Rate:
If you have a  rough draft of your synopsis or need suggestions for one you aren't sure about, we will do our best to make it clear, concise, and to the point. It is our goal to have people read your synopsis and grab your book!

Other:
If you have an essay, poetry collection, or individual short story, tell us about it and we will come up with an appropriate price.
